Irene graduated from Tallinn University with a degree in social work and studied occupational therapy as an additional specialty. Irene started her work in the field of mental health more than twenty years ago in the day center of the psychiatric clinic of the Northern Estonian Regional Hospital. At the time, it was one of the first places to offer in addition to treatment, activities that helped people with mental disorders to get their daily lives back on track.

Irene considers meaningful activity to be very important in the recovery of mental health. Even if there is no motivation at first to do something, Irene knows that sometimes the will can come only after doing something for a while.

Irene's great passion is theater - especially in the Ugala theater in Viljandi, she can often be found among the audience. She has also been able to connect the little bit of theater with her professional life - namely, Irene has completed psychodrama group leader training at the Moreno Center.
